One of the original “reality” shows is back. Star Search, the popular singing, dancing, and comedy show where contestants competed for judges votes to win 100,000 dollars. The original version of the show ran from 1983 to 1995, hosted by Ed McMahon. It tried to make a brief comeback in 2003, but this latest iteration, produced by Netflix and hosted by Anthony Anderson. and judges Jelly Roll, Sarah Michelle Gellar and Chrissy Teigen. The show premiered on Netflix January 20th.

The original run had a who’s who of contestants who are now household names. Stars like Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears, Adam Sandler, Drew Carey, Usher, Norm Macdonald, Alanis Morrisette, Christina Aguilera, LeAnne Rimes, Dave Chappelle, Kevin James, and Destiny’s Child all appeared on the competition show.

The new version has been Reimagined for a live, interactive experience with real-time audience voting shaping the competition. Features singers, dancers, comedians, magicians, and juniors. Viewers will be able to vote for their favorites right from the Netflix app.
